Pilot season · Chennai and around

Chennai Kabaddi Premier League

Open player registration. Committee review of every entry. A live auction anyone can watch.

CKPL is a Kabaddi league pilot for Chennai and the districts around it. Players enter from a phone, a volunteer committee verifies each entry, and squads are filled lot by lot on a public auction board. Team names, dates and fees are still provisional.

Kabaddi players contest a raid on a chalk-marked mud court, a defender diving in as the raider turns for the midline.

Player to auction

How a player reaches the auction

Four stages, run in the open by the volunteer committee. Nothing skips review, and nothing reaches the public board before it is approved.

  1. 01

    Register

Submit identity, playing profile and a clear photo from a phone, then attach the payment for the category fee shown in the form.

  2. 02

    Committee review

Volunteers check every entry against its documents and mark it approved, pending or rejected.

  3. 03

    Auction pool

Approved, available players join the pool and stay hidden from the public board until an operator reveals the lot.

  4. 04

    Live auction

Bidding opens at 100 and rises in steps of 100 until the operator marks the lot sold or unsold. Squads fill toward a default target of 12 players.

Court craft

What the committee is watching for

Kabaddi is decided by breath control, court geometry and the timing of a chain. These are the moments that separate a raider or defender worth a bid.

  • The cant

A raider crosses the midline repeating “kabaddi” on one unbroken breath. Lose the cant and the raid is finished.

  • Baulk and bonus lines

The baulk line is the raider's point of commitment. Reaching the bonus line scores on its own, but only while the defending side still has six or more players on the mat.

  • Chain defence

Corners, covers and ins link ankle holds, thigh holds and blocks. Stopping a raider with three or fewer defenders left standing earns a super tackle point.

  • Do-or-die raid

Two empty raids in a row and the third must score, or the raider is out. Every point earned revives a team-mate who was sent off.

Provisional squads

6 working team slots

Every squad below is a provisional working slot for the pilot, not a franchise. Names, areas, colours and the number of teams can all change before the first raid, and the auction is built to absorb that.
